Thrive isn’t just a coworking space—it’s a supportive community for working women. Built around the four core values of welcoming, committed, open and contributing, it’s meant to be both a workplace and a retreat…a home away from home where you’re surrounded by other people who “get” the success and struggles of entrepreneurship, who understand that work, even if you don’t own your own business, can be incredibly personal.

You’ll find some stellar perks here at Thrive Coworking for Women. Among them, a beautiful design, fast Wi-Fi, strong coffee and monthly catered lunches. But, most importantly, you’ll find a group of women who are happy to cheer you on and provide support when you need it most. To help give you a better feel for the vibe you can expect here at Thrive, we’ll be publishing a series of blog posts that dive a little deeper into each one of our core values. To kick things off, let’s talk about what it means to be welcoming in the Thrive community.

At the top level, being welcoming as a Thrive member means exactly that—being welcoming to people, but on your own terms. Thrive recognizes that not everyone who works and meets here is super outgoing and, in fact, some of us (me) are natural introverts. So, being welcoming doesn’t mean that you have to strike up lively conversations with every person you come across. It doesn’t mean you have to go out of your way to enter social situations that might make you feel uncomfortable.

It just means that you do your best to be a welcoming community member: Respond to questions you might know the answer to, greet people when they walk through the door or as you go about your day, find some way (that feels good to you) to make connections. Being welcoming helps create a safe and supportive environment at Thrive. It helps members—like you—feel like they belong, like they can let their hair down a bit and be themselves.

We’ll wrap this post up with some first-person perspective from Thrive member Stephanie Sanstead, founder of CommuniCadence:

“Thrive has been such an essential ingredient in navigating my path toward working as an independent consultant. It’s contributed so much to my overall mental health and well-being. As an extrovert, the biggest challenge I faced in freelancing was the isolation that comes with working alone. I find Thrive to be more than just a co working space. It’s a place for synergy and collaboration, community and friendship, and above all, a place to go and be extremely supported as a female entrepreneur.”
