Meal Planning Tips for a Healthy & Delicious Office Lunch

Save time and money—and keep to a healthy weekly routine!—with these quick and simple meal prep tips for wholesome office lunches.

Meal Prep On The Weekends

Your weekdays are already jam-packed with work, errands and evening activities, so it’s best to set aside a chunk of time on the weekend. For many people, Sunday afternoons tend to work best. Do whatever you need to do to make meal prep a fun activity and less of a chore—wine, good music, some sweet treats. Block off at least 2 hours, to give yourself plenty of time so that you won’t feel rushed.

Keep It Simple

Prepare recipes that you know are tried and true. If you’re prepping multiple meals, it’s always a good idea to have ingredient crossover—meaning, using the same ingredient for a handful of dishes. This keeps grocery costs down and makes washing, chopping or slicing more efficient. For those who are just starting out in the meal prep game, start slow. Like, real slow. Try prepping just two meals for the week at first and then build from there.

Stock Up On Meal Prep Containers

Want to make your morning routine super easy? Buy yourself a set of storage containers that are already sized for lunch portions. Once your meals are cooked, divvy up the goods into the containers and stock them in your fridge or freezer for the week. Come Monday morning, just grab a container and go!

Make A Meal Plan + Grocery List

Sure, making a weekly meal plan takes a good amount of time and organization, but it takes the guesswork out of your weekly office lunches! First, start by taking stock of the goods and ingredients you already have in your home. Then, list out your dinners for the week (and cook extra for a lftovers lunch or two!) and add in any additional lunches you want to prep for yourself. Create your grocery list from that meal plan. If you use up what’s in your fridge, freezer and pantry first, you’ll even save on your grocery bill.
