This month here at Thrive Coworking for Women, we’re celebrating the perfect pairing of coworking and
telecommuting. A large number of our membership is made up of inspiring female entrepreneurs, but
there’s also a good amount of kickass professional women who work remotely for larger brands and
corporations.

We have a member who is starting the Arizona outpost for a national public relations agency, one who
works in sales for a brand that empowers nursing mothers, and several members who work in industries
adjacent to the tech field – just to name a few. Rather than working from home, these women have
decided to turn Thrive into their telecommuting home base.
What are some of the advantages to telecommuting from a shared coworking space? For one, you get
the benefit of office camaraderie without the workplace politics or distractions. Coworking spaces also
provide telecommuters with office essentials they may not have at home, like meeting rooms, printers and
conference technology. And let’s not forget the social and networking perks. Professional workshops,
hands-on training and holiday celebrations or happy hours can be just the inspirational jolt a
telecommuting professional needs to get their work in gear.
Honestly, we could wax poetic about the benefits to telecommuting and coworking all day, but we’d rather
give our members the chance to shine. Here’s what they have to say about choosing to telecommute

I decided to work out of Thrive for several reasons. Number one, because I wanted to be centrally located
in the heart of Gilbert, which is where most of my customers’ businesses are located. It’s great because I
can run in and out of Thrive to see customers, and come back to my desk in between appointments to
catch up on projects and emails.

Secondly, I love all of the offerings, such as business development workshops, rooftop yoga and group
happy hours. There’s always something happening. The women and companies they run and work for are
all so diverse; it’s fun to learn what they do and to find ways to support one another as we go through our
work days.

I’ve worked remotely, out of my home, for the last 16 years, and honestly, the change of scenery was
needed. Thrive’s office space is open, airy and beautifully decorated. I feel very positive when I’m working here. While much of my job requires me to be out and about at meeting clients, I strive for being at Thrive at least two to three working days each week, but this can vary depending on the time of year.

For my business, one of the most significant benefits has been the use of the conference room and other areas of Thrive for networking events and meetings. Clients genuinely get excited when I tell them to meet me at Thrive!

Working at Thrive allows me to interact with likeminded women, which motivates me and increases my productivity when compared to working strictly from home. Telecommuting allows me to have the flexibility of creating my own schedule, so I can stay home and do laundry in between work projects, or come into the Thrive office when I truly need to focus.

The community aspect of Thrive is also amazing. Working remotely, I have little built-in interaction with adults. I am a single mom to two young kids, so being at Thrive provides me with social interaction – which I am extremely grateful for. Having various activities on the calendar at Thrive is such a benefit – yoga, mastermind classes, coffee tasting – there is always something going on and I appreciate the effort to bring in new and exciting classes and events. Working out of Thrive has also provided me with new friendships that I am so grateful for!
