Member Introduction

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your background and what you do?

My name is Marci and I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I moved to Arizona permanently in 2013 and I felt a connection to desert and to the region immediately. My career in Brazil was originally in Business and Logistics/Supply Chain, having completed degrees in both areas. I worked with large multinational companies for more than 15 years in Latin America and the Unites States.

In 2008 I joined a small team as a founding member of the Oracle consulting Company TRI CS Inc. From 2008 to 2018 we grew from 5 to a global group with more than 150 employees. I was leading TRI HR team, marketing and event planning, but I knew that it was not my passion. I knew early on that my true passion was for interior design and space planning. In 2018 I left my job, went back to school to pursuit my Interior Design degree and I never looked back.

My designs incorporate much of the contemporary influence we see in Brazil’s and European large cities with the emerging interest in soft organic modern designs found in Arizona.

What Brought Them to Thrive

What initially drew you to join Thrive, and how did you hear about it?

I decided to start my own business and worked from home for one year.  However, after all the years working in a office environment, I realized that I needed to make a change in order to stay motivated and continue growing my interior design business. I wanted to work in an environment that had a positive energy and fostered inspiration, but was peaceful at the same time.  I live in Gilbert and love our Gilbert Historic District. 

I was having lunch at one of the many restaurants one day and noticed the “Thrive” sign on top of a building. It felt like fate. After checking Thrive’s Instagram, I was impressed and decided to visit the space in person.  It was during the summer and Braelyn wasn’t there. I walked around and instantly fell in love with the space. I contacted Braelyn by phone.  After talking with her, I knew that I had found my place. Even though Braelyn was on vacation, she was unbelievably nice and supportive and interested in taking care of me. Thrive is a beautiful space and well designed by an excellent Interior Designer. It is a welcoming, warm, clean and very cool space. I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of this amazing community of women.

Experience at Thrive

How has your experience been so far at Thrive, and what aspects do you enjoy the most?

I love it! Everyone here is very welcoming. It’s a space where people do not judge each other, making it very easy to communicate. I feel secure working there, whether it’s early in the morning, late at night, or on weekends. It’s great to have a well-equipped space so I don’t have to keep driving around with all my samples and papers. I also appreciate having the option to use our very nice meeting room. I enjoy the energy, the design, the aroma, the smiles, and the kombucha. 🙂

Staying on Track with Work

How does Thrive help you stay on track with your work and professional goals?

When I am at Thrive, I can focus and be much more productive. I do not have people disturbing me, so I can focus on designing for my clients in a very professional and calm environment. I have been using the meeting room to schedule some of my meetings.  It is much more professional and productive than trying to meet at a busy coffee shop. I hope I can continue to grow and keep my space at Thrive.

What advice or message would you like to share with your fellow Thrive members?

I would like to express my gratitude for being surround by such empowered women. Each of you has inspired me to work hard, drive for success and constantly seeking improvement. If anytime you need somebody to talk or just to share some thoughts, I am here for you. We are stronger together!
